While interior design encompasses decorating, there is a distinct difference between a professional interior designer and a decorator: an interior designer has a formal education in the design field and an affiliation with a legitimate interior design organization. Such organizations require continuing education throughout each year so designers stay abreast of changes in products and applications to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the client. Design Intuitions is a full-service interior design firm specializing in residential and small commercial design from the initial stage of space planning to the very last accessory and everything in between. Projects include decorating and design of existing structures, remodeling kitchens and baths, and selection assistance in new home construction from the ground up through completion.

Interior Design Process

Thank you for inquiring about Design Intuitions; we appreciate the opportunity to help you create your vision. There are several phases in the design process: consultation, design plan and selection, presentation, order and production, and the installation and photography.

Consultation

The first meeting consists of discussing the client’s ideas, determining the direction and scope of the project, as well as setting a budget. If we proceed  with a design plan, a Letter of Agreement is provided and the next appointment is scheduled. Measurements and photos will be taken at this time to aid in the design process.

Design Plan and Selection

This is studio time where all aspects of the design plan are addressed. During this time frame, any construction plans, floor plans and other drawings are completed, as well as obtaining any necessary quotes from contractors. Selections are made for surfaces, finishes, colors, furnishings, window treatments, art, accessories, and any other materials that may be necessary. This phase usually is completed within two or three weeks at which time the second appointment with the client is scheduled.

Presentation

The second appointment is where the design plan, selections, quotes, and schedule are presented for the client’s approval. It is typically more beneficial have the presentation at the job site to ensure all selections work well with the existing surroundings and any additional measurements can be taken. A deposit is required at this time to put the plan in action. While we are on target with selections most of the time, this is where any changes will be made. Your satisfaction is our priority!

Order and Production

After approval of the design plan and selections, the project goes into production. Materials are ordered and contractors, if necessary, are scheduled.

Installation

Many installations take place in a single day while others are a gradual process, especially in remodeling projects. Please be assured that we will do our best to keep things on schedule – we are happy to take that pressure off of the client! Once installations are complete, the final payment is collected and photographs are taken. The client may now enjoy their newly designed space that is uniquely their own!
